Pounding Pavement: A Day in the Life of a Door-to-Door Salesperson

Save Thousands on Credit Card Processing

Today was another day out in the field for Adaptive Payment Solutions. I hit the pavement, determined to connect with local businesses, and overall, it was a success. My first highlight was Tacoma Plumbing and Heating—they were so kind and welcoming that I decided to treat them to a couple of specialty coffee drinks (which, as you know, is a big deal here in Seattle!). It’s moments like these that make the effort worthwhile.

Of course, sales is always a mixed bag. Right after that great interaction, I walked into a nearby auto repair shop and got barked at by the owner. Ah, the highs and lows of door-to-door sales! But that was the only negative moment out of about 50 business cards handed out. Most of the people I met were polite, happy to take a card, and many even shared the name of the decision-maker for the company.

Despite the reputation credit card salespeople have as “constant solicitors,” I get the sense we aren’t as frequent these days. With the rise of dual pricing options, more business owners are starting to listen—and that’s exciting for me as I continue building my own portfolio. The trials and triumphs of a day on the ground remind me why I love what I do!
