Our Website is Gaining Traction—Here’s What We’ve Learned So Far
We’re excited to share that since launching our new website, Adaptive Payment Solutions has already received three leads! While this is a great milestone and shows that our efforts are paying off, it’s also been a learning experience. Unfortunately, all three of these leads turned out to be scams, with individuals trying to use stolen identities.
What Scammers Are Trying to Do
Here’s what we’ve learned from these interactions: scammers often follow a pattern when attempting to exploit legitimate businesses like ours.
- Requesting a Virtual Terminal: One of the most common red flags we saw was a sudden and persistent request for a virtual terminal. While virtual terminals are useful tools for many businesses, scammers will often ask for one without providing any real information about their business, or they may try to push for it without going through the proper verification process.
- Avoiding Discussion of Pricing: Scammers are also quick to dismiss any conversations about pricing. If a lead isn’t concerned about pricing, or brushes off your attempts to clarify fees and services, it’s usually a sign that something isn’t right. These individuals aren’t looking for a real business solution—they’re looking for a way to exploit your services.
- Impersonating Businesses: Another tactic is impersonating well-known businesses or using stolen identities to create a false sense of legitimacy. They may use official-sounding names or email addresses to appear trustworthy, but their intentions quickly become clear once you start asking for more details.
Our Approach to Protecting You
To protect both ourselves and our legitimate clients, we take extra steps when verifying leads. Instead of relying solely on the information provided by the lead, we directly reach out to the company spokesperson via their website, LinkedIn, or phone. We verify whether they are genuinely looking for credit card processing services. This simple step often stops scammers in their tracks.
In fact, we’ve found that many of the people we contact are thankful for the follow-up call, as they’ve often received similar scam attempts before. It’s reassuring to know that we’re helping them avoid fraud, and it also shows that legitimate businesses appreciate the extra effort in confirming the validity of the lead.
The Bottom Line: We’re Here for You
While these encounters were disappointing, we see them as a sign that our website is starting to attract attention—and that’s a positive thing! We’ll continue to strengthen our lead verification process, and we’re committed to providing trustworthy, secure, and transparent merchant services to our clients.
Thank you for being part of our journey! Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to build and refine our offerings.
